Freedom

On this day of remembrance for Dr. Martin Luther King, let us all be touched by his words..."and when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"

How free really are we in our own walks with the Lord? How many chains do we let hold us down? It is not about race, color, creed or any physical attribute in God's eyes. It is about surrendering our hearts to Him and letting God be the compass in our life.

Do we have true freedom in our hearts? Have we given God that opportunity ? If not, He is waiting to do so with just our asking Him to. We all fall short of God's glory at times in our life, but freedom which Dr. King spoke of so often, can be found within our own words through prayer and surrendering those things that bind us like chains to this world.

God sent His only son Jesus out of love for freedom of sin in our lives. I believe that one of Dr. King's missions in his life was freedom from oppression through his actions and words. Let us not forget that God has given us all missions in our own lives that we must daily seek after and through God's forgiveness, grace and love we can achieve His purpose for our lives.

Walking in God's greatest commandment.

Do we really understand what God is doing in our lives everyday? Do we ask Him for wisdom which only He can give us? How do we know if we are truly living in God’s good and perfect will for our lives? All of these are questions that every believer in Christ should ask of themselves while in communion with God. I know and believe that these questions get answered when we follow what God commands us to do with this life only He has blessed us with.

That means we are to keep the greatest commandment he has spoken to us of through His son Jesus, the commandment of Love. Do we really know what love is the most important to God? Jesus tells us in Matthew 22:37-40 "'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.”This is the first and great commandment.” And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself. "On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

Now we should understand that when we do not see the full power of God in our lives, we should ask of ourselves “Am I keeping God’s greatest commandment?” How did you react to your co-worker who may have ignored you? How did you react when you saw that politician on TV whom you don’t agree with? How did you react when someone cut you off in traffic on your way to work this morning? How did you react when you saw a gay couple in line at the grocery store? How do we need to react to scenarios like these happening in our lives? The answer is that in which Jesus spoke of, we must love EVERYONE, once we do that and make it a habit in our daily walk with God, He will open your eyes to new revelation from His Holy Spirit.

Being a "good" person or doing "good" deeds

We all hear the word good used many times in our lives and we come to know after a while that good is something we all want to hear. Webster’s dictionary defines good: as of a favorable character or tendency and bountiful, or fertile as good land. The Bible uses the word over 700 times in the NKJV. So where does God stand on people being good? Good is better than evil, so therefore I should be in right standing with God when I do good things or if I am a good person. Jesus says in Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. What does He mean by good works? Does Jesus mean that all we have to do to get to Heaven is do good works or be good people? No, Jesus says in Matthew 10:32, 33 "Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.”But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

We must all realize that no matter how good we are or how many good things we do even for God, that it is only through proclaiming Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior when God writes our names in the Lamb’s Book of Life to spend eternity in Heaven with Him. All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Rev.13:8
Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous. Psalms 69:28

I know that I look forward to spending eternity in Heaven with my Lord and I pray that you do also. Praise God!

I would like to say to everyone who reads this blog that God is blessing you more than you will ever know. I am so thankful to my Lord God for sending His only son Jesus as the perfect sacrifice for our sins . In no way can I ever conceive how gracious God is to me and to all of you who read this. Let us give Praise to Almighty God for everything that He is in our lives! We owe it to Him. Hallelujah!

I look forward to blogging much more here in the future, but for now I will leave you with this.

Expect God to do Mighty Things in your Life! Why? When has He ever let you down? Do you doubt what Jesus said in Luke 18:27, But He said, "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God."

God wants ALL believers in Him through His son Jesus to be powerful in their individual walks with him. We have to trust God more to open up His floodgates of blessing on our lives.

For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself. saying, "Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you." Hebrews 6:13, 14
